Hi Derek,

Had a quick search on MSE, it looks like M was referring to this post :

forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.ph...8688177&postcount=16

I note it is only a "guideline" though.

Hi Cathrine
Just read your post and all reply`s. I think if you can mange to do a letter to your MP it would highlight not only teh waste of taxpayers money, but the way in which they treat customers and do not make reasonable adjustments. Atos having a Assessment centre where there are no public access routes is disgusting and stressful.

Good luck with everything the link on moneysaving expert is also useful so it may be worth just copying over what you have posted on her onto a word document ready for the decision maker.

Sorry, Derek, I didn't realise that posting links was allowed.

But you just have to Google any reasonably unique phrase from the quotation:

"not able to make your appointment, you can call us to rearrange it, but under current DWP guidelines,"

for example, and the post is in the first search result. :)

Thanks for the link bro58.

The Atos Healthcare company representative is maintaining what Atos say over the phone, except he/she states that it's DWP guidance that instructs them to refer you back to the DWP to explain your circumstances.

I'd rather see the official DWP guidelines than trust an Atos representative posting to a public forum but assuming that the advice is correct, you are allowed to cancel twice - it's just that you have an additional barrier and delay to get though with your file being sent back to JCP, no matter how compelling your reasons for missing the appointment are.
