So if you look at Gordon's post here :

It is basically saying that the exemption is reaching SRA, as Gordon is responding to a female (shirley).

Someone who hits SRA would not be in WRAG anyway.

I obviously stand to be corrected if I'm mistaken.

My husband in Wrag for about 18 months and did not have WFIs. Understand that they cannot ask a man to attend WFI if he is above the age that a woman woulkd not have to attend. Does this make sense?

Yes you are correct, the exact rule is as follows'

under the age at which a woman of the same age as the claimant attains pensionable age
