Help please who to contact was created by JeanCannon
Hi I have recently married and need to let the DWP know as I receive DLA and I believe I get my stamp paid , but I don't know who to contact.
Also I have just noticed that they have paid in £200 DLA that is not due at this time, I am so confused and no good at talking to people on the phone
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

In relation to your DLA, write to the address at the top of your last DLA award letter to notify them of your change of marital status.

You mention having your stamp paid. This does not happen with DLA, so I assume that you are getting some other benefit - maybe ESA or IB or IS? You will need to tell the relevant office. Again, you can get details at the top of your last award letter or you can contact the DWP via your local JobCentre.

If you are not sure about the DLA but do not want to talk on the phone, then write to the DWP DLA team and tell them that you want it dealt with in writing.

You may find that if there is an overpayment they will want to recover it a bit at a time. If the overpayment is due to an error on their part and you have given them all the relevant information that you should have done, they are not entitled to recover the money.

Either way, they are likely to pass it on to a team specialising in overpayments. If you have any difficulties, I recommend contacting your MP at his usual surgery or in writing, as the DWP has staff dedicated to dealing with MPs' correspondance.

Hi thank you for your reply. I think the stamp thing was to do with a benefit that I cannot get as not enough stamp paid, I don't get any money apart from DLA.

You need to check out which benefit it is and notify them. Quite apart from the legal obligation to notify of change of circumstances, which is, of course, important, you want to make sure your NI record doesn't have any errors that could affect a future pension.

If you are not sure which benefit it is, just contact the JobCentre with your NI number and old and new names and ask them to amend their records and notify you of which benefit you are getting the credits in relation to.
