Change of circumstances?

Change of circumstances? was created by slugsta
I have recently been awarded DLA. Since then I have been provided with some aids by social services. These are mostly just extra handrails but also include a gadget for putting on socks. This doesn't make the job easy but does mean that, with a lot of faffing around, I can manage to put my own socks on. Do I have to notify this as a change of circs?

I have also swtiched medication but this has not made any difference to my care needs either - and I expect to be switching medication a fair amount, do I have to notify every change if it doesn't alter the material facts of my claim?

Many thanks.

Unfortunately, a Change of Circumstances is one of those decisions where there is only really clarity at the extremes, the middle ground, which of course covers the majority of circumstances, is often too unclear to call.

All I can do is point you at the guide covering this, see

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlachanges

and the guidance on the DirectGov site.

Just to let you know that I reported my 'change of circumstances' (ie, the aids provided by OT) to DWP and also included the care plan that the OT gave me. Then I held my breath, waiting to see what would happen.

Today I have had a letter saying that my level of DLA will remain unchanged - cue huge sigh of relief!

The letter reads as if they thought I was asking for a higher rate, I don't know if this is the case, or if that is just a standard form. Either way, I am very relieved! :)

Many thanks to the mods, as always, for their advice on this matter.
