Supporting Evidence to ESA or IB for DM? was created by micksville
Well I have sent the ESA 50 off special delivery and they recieved it today. I enclosed a fairly long letetr of explanation as the form was too small to fit everything in and also included about ten one page letetrs of medical evidence in the form of GP and consultants letters etc.
When I was on Incap I used to send the IB50 off to the ATOS address and all the supporting evidence. then I also used to send copies of the supporting evidence and letters to Incap Ben office themselves ( The office dealing with my claim).
This so the DM definitely got to see it.
Question is should I now send copies of letters and evidence to ESA to ensure a DM sees everything(as I dont trust ATOS to forward it) or would it go to Incap still? I understand ESA and Incap Ben are on different computer systems and they cant see each others info.
All the evidence and letters had my NI number written on the top of them.

As you are being transferred to ESA, there is no point in you sending any information to anybody who has previously dealt with your IB claim.

With regard to sending the info to a DWP Decision Maker. The decision is really yours, many of the reasons why we originally suggested this have been removed, although I would not want to say they have been completely erradicated.

The DM, is very unlikely to review your case before they receive your file back from ATOS, so there is no advantage to be had there.

So it all boils down to whether you believe your info will make it through ATOS, to the DM, intact, or whether you are still concerned.

I think it is a good idea to send copies of further medical evidence /additional points that would not fit on the ESA form, to the DWP and to ATOS and retain evidence of dispatch

This will prevent anyone being able to easily say they were unaware of the fullest extent of your problems or evidence

There is no gaurantee gthey will take much notice of it, but there is a good chance it WILL be read and the more information that is helpful, the greater the chance of not being required for a face to face assessment, or a successful one if called in

Thanks Gordon,
Thats exactly my fear, namely that the supporting letters etc may not be sent along with the ATOS report when it gets sent across to the DM at the BDC. Therefore I might just send the copies to the BDC that deals with my claim and mark it for the attention of ESA team..Dot se that I've anything to lose. Of course the ESA form and accompanying letter I recieved did say to send with it any supporting evidence etc but that's to them... ATOS.

So I guess what I'm asking Gordon is should I address it as For The Attention of a DM and to the ESA dept of the BDC dealing with my claim?

There is no need to address correspondence to a decision maker or the ESA section at a JCP/BD office, as the internal mail system will direct any communications to the section concerned based on the claimant's reference number, which in the case of ESA will be your NI number.
