How can ESA make me go to an interview whilst appealing to be put in the support group as I have been placed into the Work Related Activity Group.

I have severe arthritis, a back injury, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, borderline personality disorder, panic attacks and agoraphobia.

They keep saying its mandatory that I go - how can I whilst even the last two conditions prevent me from doing that.
All i get is mandatory, mandatory, mandatory :(

Yes, you can be obliged to attend WFIs while appealing from the WRAG to the support group, although you can ask to have the interviews held on the phone and many of our members have succeeded in this. You can also insist that the adviser make reasonable adjustments for your disabilities under the Equalities Act 2010.

See here for an explanation of your obligations in relation to WFIs whilst appealing.

You can call your adviser, explain that you're appealing and ask for the interviews to be deferred until the appeal or conducted by telephone because of your agoraphobia and panic attacks.

I did this and my advisor checked her screen to confirm that my appeal had been registered, discussed my conditions with me for about ten minutes and said she would be in touch again when the appeal had been decided.

She was very kind and helpful. :)
