Into wrag with no medical. I got my letter on Xmas Eve (they do send them first class btw :)).

Really think I should be in Support and am gutted to have got this decision.

I thought the required information was down on the esa50 and in my psychotherapist's report.

I am going to appeal and have looked at the guides. I have sent off a letter requesting all the info about the decision (copied it from the guide.)

Also got an appointment with CAB. I have spoken to the advisor on the phone. She was saying how hard it was to get into the support group and would see if it was worth trying when we meet. I hope once she sees my details she will she understand the need. Plus people from here have been successful in appealing wrag to support. My therapist will be going with me to the appointment.

Also seeing my GP tomorrow. Hoping she will help but I struggle to get things across in appointments.

I'd be on the same money in support (kept at current ib rate) and the income vs contribution thing isn't an issue for me but 'wfis or work related activities' would be far too much for me.

I think I qualify on the mental health exceptional circumstances criteria for the support group.

I think I possibly come close on the social engagement descriptor but I don't know if the DWP would just apply that to people who were so disabled by it they had to live in a residential home or something.

Do you think it's best I just say to my GP - I'll get back to you on what you could write for me after I've seen the CAB adviser? Or let her know about the descriptors tomorrow and ask her then if she will write something? (I believe she will only write what she believes to be true but I'd need to let her know about the specific criteria the DWP are interested in.)

Hi DN,

It will do no harm to discuss the relevant criteria and descriptors, and how you feel that you fullfil them.

Hi displayname, I was sorry to hear that you didn't get placed in the Support Group and I hope you won't have too much of a struggle on your hands asking them to reconsider their decision. Best of luck.

I wondered if you explicitly stated in your ESA50 that you felt you ought to go into the Support Group? Mine has just gone in and although I was unsure, in the end I told them that I considered myself eligible for the Support Group on certain grounds, but am wondering if they'll just think I'm being presumptuous. From my point of view, and my psychotherapist's, the exceptional circumstance criteria about there being a substantial risk to my mental health if I were found not to have limited capability for work definitely applies to me, but I worry that they're not keen on having this pointed out to them.

What do you think?

I wouldn't like to say really.

All I can tell you is I did mention it on my form. I didn't put a long list of reasons as such straight after the comment - I thought the evidence for that was spelt out on the rest of the form. I don't think I used the words 'support group' - rather that wrag would be damaging to my mental health.

My therapist also wrote the same. In bold. At the end of her two page report.

So yes, they have ignored it, but I doubt that they decided to do that specifically because we'd written it. It will be interesting/horrifying to see how they reached their decision.

Good luck to you though. I hope you get the result you want. It's horrible having this going on. A real blow. But part of me should try and remain optimistic that I can be moved into the support group.
