ESA50 despatched - possible to send more info ?

Have completed and returned ESA50, with 24 supporting documents, all loving referenced in the narrative, where appropriate (for example the letters advising my wife to catheterise 4-5 daily - something she cannot do herself).

Of course because we got the form just before Christmas, we had very narrow window of opportunity to track down additional documentation that would have helped. In particular a letter requesting a monitored 24/7 alarm service, in case my wife suffers a fall ...

Can we just send any additional documents with name, NI number, and a brief covering letter ? To the same address we sent the ESA50 to ?

My wifes GP is sympathetic, and we've made a copy of the ESA50 for them (so they are prepared, should they be contacted) and is going to trawl through her medical notes (which need to be carried by 2 people !!!!) for any other useful correspondence, tomorrow.

Hi MSH,

Yes, you could send copy of any fresh evidence to ATOS at the same address that your ESA50 was returned to, you could also send the same to the ESA Decision Maker.

You could address the latter to the ESA Decision Maker, at the benefits office that is dealing with your ESA.

You should put your name, DOB and NI Number at the head of any pages that you are sending, and inlude a covering letter stating that you wish this evidence to be taken into consideration, along with the recent ESA50 that you filled in and returned.

Keep copies of everything posted, and post by recorded delivery. :)

Thank you very much. Well versed at keeping copies ! Can we just ring up the benefits office and ask who the Decision Maker is, by name ?

Hi MSH,

As the decision makers often work in teams, it would suffice to simply address it FAO The ESA Decision Maker.

It will be sent to the correct team, referenced from your postcode and NI number.

Thank you very much, bro58. Sorry to appear so thick, but I know the absolute importance of doing everything by the book, when dealing with bureaucracy.

Do you mean actually put "FAO ESA Decision Maker" as the first line of the address ?
How could I find out which benefits office is handling the claim ? Is it the same address the ESA50 came from ?

Hi MSH,

Yes that should suffice.

It would be the "Benefits Office", "Benefits Centre" or "Benefits Delivery Centre" (BDC) that deals with your ESA/IB benefits, the address should be on any recent letters that you have with regards to your benefits.

Even though the ESA Decision Makers Teams have been set up at various locations across the country, your evidence should be redirected to the appropriate DM team, with reference to your postcode and NI Number.
