Hi J,

As you are new, you may wish to read :

Welcome to Benefits and Work

There is a section on DLA in our FAQ's here :

FAQ’s

You can access our DLA claims Guides from here :

DLA Guides

With respect to your question, it would be impossible to pass comment on what award of DLA, if any, that you may be entitled to.

It is the limitations, disabilities, or care needs, resulting from a medical condition that may qualify a claimant for an award of DLA, not the medical condition itself.

The following documents may help :

www.disabilityalliance.org/f23.htm

www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-g...disability-handbook/

dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guide...evels-exertion.shtml

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dmgch61.pdf

See comments and links on this thread as well :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=vie...id=10&id=79470#79470

As your G.P. may be consulted :

www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/medical-reports-completion.pdf

www.peakflow.com/portal_nav/patient/index.html

www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40025262/

www.peakflow.com/top_nav/normal_values/index.html

If you attend a COPD clinic it may well be worthwhile obtaining copies of your Spirometry tests, and check whether you have been assessed on the MRC Breathlessness Scale, Graded 1 to 5, 5 being the most severe.

Hi J,

You should use any available evidence that indicates that you may suffer from the qualifying limitations/disabilities/care needs.

It may also be prudent to discuss your DLA claim with your G.P., to ensure that he is aware of your resulting limitation, etc, etc.

Hi Joycey,

You may also find this link of help What is CPOD

It includes detailed information on the likely care and/or mobility needs for DLA, and is used DWP Decision Makers when assessing whether the CPOD is mild, moderate or severe.

Good luck.

Pat
