Hi M,

The minimum requirement for a claimant is to score 15 points cumulatively, across the ESA Descriptors, to be placed in the WRAG of ESA, indeed it is possible to score much more than the 15 points required, and still not gain Support Group entry. See :

Qualifying for the WRAG

Also the WRAG (LCW) ESA Regs descriptors :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/1/made?view=plain

However, to gain entry to the SG a claimant must score maximum points,i.e. 15, in at least one of the relevant SG Descriptors as layed out here :

Qualifying for the Support Group

And here, (LCWRA Descriptors):

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/2/made?view=plain

Either group status can also be gained by fulfilling the relevant Exceptional Circumstances, without scoring any points at all.
