Revision or Appeal or BOTH was created by evey23
Just got my decision and have been placed in the work related activity group, which I am not HAPPY about and intend to appeal. I have contacted the benefit centre and I was told to (write a letter asking for a reconsideration to be placed in the support group and If I am not successful accept this letter as my appeal).Have i been giving the right advice?
Can anyone advise me as the B&W suggest to only lodge an appeal.

Hi e23,

B&W advises appealling rather than asking for a reconsideration, because when you submit an appeal using a GL24 form, a reconsideration takes place automatically by a different Decision Maker, you have around a 4 week window of opportunity here to submit fresh evidence, or pursuade the DM that you qualify for the SG.

If the decision is not changed at this stage, your appeal will be sent forward to the appeal process, without you having to take any further action.

If you ask for a reconsideration only, and the decision is not changed, you will then have to submit an appeal as a seperate action.

You can withdraw your appeal at any stage, in either scenario.

As I have just answered a similar query regarding appealing a WRAG Award to gain entry to the SG, have a look at this thread :
