Don't get extra disablity payment you get, cant remember what you called it.

Hi Gordon I have been asked the question by the job centre advisor (who I have say is very nice and she thinks it is ridiculous me being there, but is just doing her job) but what a ridiculous question to ask. If I had an answer to that I could be planning my whole futur, dates, times etc. - I could even find a cure for my illness. I just think common sense in less common these days. They still ask this question even though all my consultants state ' to ill to work'....madness!

We're not really in a position to advise, perhaps other members will have a view. however, if it is your illnesses and/or condition(s) that are preventing you working, perhaps you could explain what measures might be taken for you to be able to work, as a (silly) example, if you were confined to bed for the majority of the day due to your condition, then a job where you could lie down for extended periods might be a reasonable answer.

Hi G. You seem to be getting a hard time. My Job Centre Advisor only sees me once every 2 years at the moment. He doesn't ask anything like that. Do you take a letter from your GP saying that you are unfit to work? Have you thought about appealing about your grp and try to be changed in to the Support Grp?

I have to attend the job centre every 4 weeks for a work related interview and have to answer that same question every month even though they know I have worked all my life and never claimed benefits until I became to ill to work. What is strange though, In November I filled in 'another' ESA claim form and received a letter to attend 'another' ATOS medical but a week later I was told they had decided I did not need to attend and my job centre advisor phoned me and told me they (i dont know whether they mean ATOS or ESA) had signed me off for 2 years but did not say if I had been moved to the support grp but I guess not because I still have to attend the work related interviews every 4 weeks.

The only thing I could suggest Gertie is as Gordon says fire a question back at them displaying how absurd their question is:also word a question around perhaps giving you help with how to get into a field of work or training which would allow you to work or train from home perhaps online....
