Work focused interview? was created by micksville
I received a form today inviting me to what I assume is my first WFI after transferring from IB to ESA The form says it is a personal adviser interview, gives the venue date and time and says with - the name of the person is left blank. The date is exactly a month from when my ESA began. It goes on to say the interview will last about an hour and will discuss the help thgey can offer in taking the first steps to return to work etciy goes on to mention training, permitted work, voluntary work , disability advisers etc

I called the Jobcentreplus in question as it is in the next town to me even though we have a Jobcentre here. When I asked if this was the Work Focused interview I was told " something along those lines yes" Apparently the name was left blank as one of their ESA advisers is off sick at present (there's a delicious irony)and I will just see the next one available. I asked again if this was indeed the work focused interview as I was a little suspicious at her first answer to my question. she then said yes..
Just wondered if the DWP have any new tricks in the pipeline and if this does sound like the Work Focused interview letter as I wasnt happy with what the lady initially said and although the letter does have Employment and Support Allowance then Personal Adviser Interview on it, this does sound like an adviser letetr someone on JSA would get when a claim has just started.

Hi micksville

The letter you describe sounds very much like an invitation to attend WFI.

I'm afraid there is now a fine line between JSA and ESA claimants, the latter group being viewed as people who can work in the near future.

It sounds like Jobcentre Plus are no nearer to improving their skills at giving straight answers to simple questions. :)

Regards

Derek

It is the same here in Dorset. Have decided they do what they like, despite what is written in guidelines and recommendations.
I asked about training for disabled & whether or not there were facilities to assist the disabled, further training advisors/ help/ costs etc. Got told 'nothing to do with them they are merely there to place us in a work environment regardless'. It was over the phone tho.
I have trawled thru all the guides/ recommendations etc, however, what is written that should be provided for us,is in fact has nothing to do with the 'Advisor' !!! or what they do.

Out of interest pusscats mum what was the outcome of your WFI then? Did you get placed on any courses, placements or have to apply for any jobs?

In theory Derek yes but i think that is still dependant on the prognosis. My prognosis for instance says i am unlikely to return to work for at least two years
