ESA Appeal and A64A was created by DougFlo
I am currently in the appeal phase of ESA after being awarded zero after a medical. I was on contribution based and they have puy me back onto ESA assessement rate while the appeal goes through.
We put our family home on the market last November and are still waiting for it to sell. In Feb we moved into my parent's home to reduce our outgoungs and so I could have help with my care durung the day.
We told tge Dwp about this temporary move and now they are asking for me to fill in a form A64A as we hold an interest in a property other than the one we are living in. Why do I hsve to fill in this form. None of us (including my parents) are ckaiming any income based benefits.

Hi, I think they are starting to take financial details off people to smooth the switch onto income related ESA (where appropriate) at the end of the 12 month period. That is all I can think of - and agree that I wouldn't want to give details of my financial affairs if it were not neccessary!

First of all, sorry for all the typos in my first post!

I really don't understand why they need to know anything more than we have a house, but we are living with parents to try and save money as we are on benefits. Why should I have to declare my house value, mortgage and monthly outgoings?

What do you think about just writing back to them and asking them to explain why I have to fill out the form when nobody involved is on means tested benefits?

You will need to contact the DWP office to find out why form A64A has been issued, as it is not a form that has been mentioned before, as far as I am aware, in this forum.

Although it would appear to be an ESA form, as you have said it refers to holding an interest in a property other than the one you are living in, which is currently beyond the remit of this forum.

If you do elicit a definitive answer from the DWP as to the purpose of the form, it would be worthwhile letting us know, as it may very well affect other members in the future.

No problem. I did ring and ask why I had to fill it in and the chap I spoke to said it is a requirement if you have an interest in a property other than the one you are living in (Which is what is written on the form) so did not really explain much.

I shall send a letter asking for an explanation and report back when I get a reply.
