Hi Marie,

Possibly the reason why some have medicals and others don't is because the DWP already have sufficient medical evidence on record.

The other reason is because perhaps the claimant has submitted sufficient evidence when they claim.

A pure guesstimate on my part.

Kind regards.

Jim

I don't know if it helps, by my wife was put into the support group, 3 weeks after submitting the ESA50, with no medical or further communication from the DWP.

We submitted 25 pages of scanned letters from various consultants, each of which was referred to in the relevant section of the ESA50, which we completed using the electronic version.

I think the trick is to simply have copies of all correspondence from medical professionals, and cross reference that with each question on the form.

From my own experience I believe there is no rhyme nor reason why this anomolie exits.
We submitted loads of info including GP reports/consultants/meds list/Appliances -aids used etc from way back stating that I was not ever to return to work. Admit nothing new since 2006, however they did not do a medical but the nurse put me in the WRAG Group. We are appealing.
I am sure it is all to do with postcode lottery, and national statistics number crunching.
i.e this pile for ESA, this pile for WRAG,this pile for Support. Good luck

I,m inclined to agree with you PCM, but does anyone know what percentage of people don,t end up having a medical, just curious, and also it would be my worst nightmare to try and have to justify myself to them after all these years, i have,nt had a medical for almost 20 years the thought of it terrifies me.

Totally agree MSHusband.
You must have all your own med copies and deal primarily with the NHS, this will make it all plain sailing as you have noted.
However, if anyone like me has dealt with only the private med sector (mine was a road traffic accident, dealt via a lawyer therefore all consultants, Dr's etc were private)therefore no obligation to send any paperwork/ med/ mri's xrays to a NHS GP, records are no longer kept or are sent to central records, hence no records on one.
Staying within the NHS is far the best course of action. All records in place etc
