ESA Repayment or Not?

Hi, need a bit of help please.
Can you please tell me what happens if:

1. You are initially turned down for ESA
2. You ask the DWP to ‘look again’ at their decision
3. You are turned down again & then state you are wish to appeal
4. You are then paid base level ESA until your appeal
5. You are then turned down at appeal let’s say 12 months later

Are you then required to repay all the ESA payments you have received during the period you have been waiting for your appeal to be heard?

Straightforward answer - No, you do not have to pay back the ESA already received.
