I am in receipt of contribution based esa, although i am still on the assessment phase, my old boss has just rang me to explain how they are pushing for early retirement through ill health for me, it worked out i will recieve through my pension around £78 a week, will i no longer be entitled to any form of esa if i do get this pension early?

Hi,

It depends on how much your gross weekly pension will be as to what effect it may have on Contributory based ESA.

Any Occupational Pension over £85 per week (Gross) afffects Contributory ESA (for every pound pension earned over the £85 it reduces ones contributory ESA by 50p).

Being on Contributory Assessment Rate or WRAG/SG makes no difference.

Pete
