DWP HOME VISIT was created by gillyk59
I get lower rate mobility and middle rate care DLA awarded three years ago on appeal. The award of DLA was indefinite
I have been migrated onto ESA support gruop after medical.

Today i received a call from the DWP saying they want to do a home visit regarding my DLA benefits, Is this usual. Do I have to agree to a home visit. My mental health state is quite bad at the moment and the thought of a home visit is adding to the stress. I am happy to agree to a local office visit.

GK

I've not heard of this before, but this does not mean it is bad news.

It would be very unlikely that that there is an issue arising from you being placed in the Supprt Group, in fact, the opposite would seem more likely, that they are perhaps concerned that you should be on a higher rate of DLA.

Good luck

Gordon

Hi GK,

A percentage of DLA recipients are reviewed at random every year, see :

The Right Payment Programme

You may also wish to review :

I notice that your username may also be your real name, if so, you may wish to change it, see :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Hope this is of help.

Do I have to agree to a home visit though!!. I do not cope very well with household things and feel quite ashamed.

Hi,

Nearly all DLA medicals are carried out in the home.

If for some reason this is not suitable, you could request an assessment at a Medical Centre.

However, there is no guarantee that they will comply with your request.

Hi,

Just to add, if your home is in "a bit of a state", and this is down to your medical conditions, you should not feel ashamed.

The DLA Assessors visit many many homes.

You should also take into account that if the examining asssessor sees your home as it normally is, it may help with your DLA review.

You can have a friend, relative or carer present with you if you wish, they can even take notes.
