Where to go for advice please was created by Jude
Hi everyone, I don't know where to go for advice. My CAB has closed and Welfare rights said they are busy with appeals and tied up for months. I got in touch with the only law centre near me,which is 50 miles away and they said they couldn't help me because I was not in their area!
I have chronic Asthma/ Angina/Osteoporosis/Arthritis/Bowel condition/Depression/anxiety/I am under investigation with Neurologist.
I use 3 inhalers and apart from lot's of tablets, I use a GTN spray.
I put on my DLA form that I have chest pain/tightness and get breathless going up stairs and after walking about 50 meters, however sometimes it's less. I was awarded high mobility but honestly I am so worried after seeing those TV shows, that I'm afraid to go anywhere in case they film me walking and prosecute me.
I am not a fraud and I'm on so much pain killers to be able to get to sleep, that I can't go out in the mornings anymore because I am so groggy and feel spaced out. I want to know who can advise me because I want to be able to go out on sunny days like today when I feel ok. Thanks

Hi Amber, I am sorry to be dim but I am not sure what you are needing advice about

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Here on the guides it says somewhere that if you can walk around a supermarket they can class you as having no walking difficulties! It also states that if you can walk 100 meters but have discomfort after 40 meters for example, then that's how far you can walk. I'm just worried and confused.
I don't want to be prosecuted after seeing those TV shows. I do walk around the supermarket but have to use my GTN spray where ever I walk and I am just worried about going anywhere because as I explained in my post, I was truthful on my forms and I do have chest pain after walking 50 meters or less, that's why I have a spray.
I just wanted some clarity so I feel I can go out and not worry, thanks

Hi A,

As long as you have explained how your limitations affect you, and told the truth, there shouldn't be need to worry.

Don't forget, that to be classed as being able to carry out any action, you must be able to do it for the majority of the time, "repeatedly, reliably and safely", with reasonable regularity.

Cheers

Amber I am no expert just a claimant like you but if you have been awarded high mobility and don't go out that would count against you. Just obviously don't do activities that would contradict would your claim .
Hope this helps
