Friend has fibromyalgia / arthritic spine/pelvis joints and difficulaty walking (or sitting) for any length of time and is in a lot of pain, tired with effects of inflammation and drgs much of the time and life style severly restricted because of all this.
Has been transferred from IB to ESA and despite reams of Drs letters etc accompanying her ESA50 form has now been put in the WRAG.
Attended a first beneftis office meeting last week and told now has to attend various courses etc.
Trying to encourage friend to appeal but staff in Benefits office seem to have persuaded friend not to bother as there is no point and that this is just how it is now and to wait for re assessment in a year.
Any comments or advice?

Tavia

If your friend believes they meet one or more of the Support Group criteria, see

Qualifying for the Support Group

then they are entitled to appeal the Decision to place them in the WRAG. See

Is there any risk to challenging a decision?

How to submit an appeal

How long do I have to appeal?

However, ultimately the decision is theirs.

Clearly we cannot tell you whether or not your friend should appeal. Here are some site resources that might help inform your decision.
