Consequences of not turning up for assessment?

What could happen if...

I am refused a home assessment for ESA either with a letter of support from my GP or not and they phone to arrange an appointment date for one, even if I explain again on the phone and they still won't reconsider.
What if I just don't turn up or phone on the day to say I cannot turn up due to my problems?

If your home visit is refused then ATOS will offer you an appointment at one of their HealthCare Centres.

If you refuse to attend, a second opportunity to attend the medical will be offered, if this is refused then your file is returned to the DWP as a no show.

The DWP should write to you asking for you to show Good Cause why you did not attend, you condition would be an example of Good Cause.

A DWP Decision Maker will then make a Decision on your case. If they find for you I would expect it would result in a home medical, however, if they find against you, then your claim will be closed and you will need to appeal the Decision.

Let's hope it doesn't get that far :)
