disappointing news from the DWP. was created by mangof
My MHP (mental health professional) rang the office dealing with my appeal yesterday to see what was happening. (It has been 3 months since we sent the GL24 in and 2 months since the acknowledgement letter.) Trying to go from wrag to support.

She spoke (with me present in the room) to two different people who said they had no record of my appeal. So they said they'd forward the question to another department who would call back in 3 hours – urgent query.

My MHP was rung back this morning. Apparently the guy said that they had received my appeal but that it took 6 to 9 months for them to be heard at the tribunal. My MHP asked what had happened at the reconsideration stage (referring to the acknowledgement letter) and he just said that reconsiderations weren't usually successful but didn't mention my case specifically. She asked was my appeal definitely going to tribunal and he said it was.

Part of me is clutching at straws and hoping the guy on the phone is wrong somehow. It was because my MHP said he sounded like he was talking about reconsiderations and appeals as two separate processes. However since he said it was definitely going to a tribunal I guess it is unlikely he would have got that wrong.

Should I have got a letter saying the reconsideration wasn't successful? Or will that just come with the 'bundle' of papers. Will they take a long time to come?

Do you think if we rang again and asked we could get them to send us a letter about the reconsideration result? Or if we wrote to them asking for that are they likely to respond ?

Thanks

Hi - does anybody know?

I think should have had a letter, yes?

Thanks.

All Decision should be confirmed in writing, so yes, you are entitled to a letter confirming the result of any Reconsideration that has been carried out.

I would try calling them first, and if nothing happens, follow it up in writing.

As I understand it, you should have had a letter telling you the result of the reconsideration. You should certain get the 'bundle' of papers relating to your claim once it has been passed to the tribunal service.

Thank you both. Will try and battle on the phone again for a decision letter.
