I did say to the 'Dr' that the visit would have to fit in with my CPN but he just snapped at me that I had a week to sort it out. He got really snappy when I said I would like it recorded the same as for ESA, his reply was that this was DLA and it didnt apply. He also was very unhappy when I said as far as I knew he could be anyone just calling me as he only gave me a mobile number to call him back on. I really do not wish to discuss this over the telephone.

I believe you can request a DLA medical held at an ATOS HealthCare centre to be recorded in the same way as for ESA, however, I don't believe this extends to one being held in a claimants home.

You are entitled to covertly record the medical, but be aware, if the "doctor" becomes of aware of this, they may stop the medical.

Do you have a contact number for your local ATOS centre, if you don't want to speak to the doctor, you can try and re-arrange the appointment through them.

Hi foxyearthangel dont worry I will!! I was supposed to go for my 3rd ESA assessment last week and I asked to have it recorded. The day before I was due to go with my CPN they tried to cancel it saying I had been booked in to be assessed by a nurse when I was only to be seen by a Doctor. I argued the point saying they had known for over a month and that I wasnt going to rebook it there and then as it had to be done by my CPN. Also I queried why their assessment centre had no disabled parking and that on their paperwork it said the centre could only be accessed by stairs or a lift. If there was an emergency the lift would not operate and there was 43 stairs to get out. I said this was ridiculous as I couldnt manage the stairs. Her reply was a classic she said quote 'dont worry as long as you tell us in advance we will tell the fire brigade'!!! I can see the headlines now, disabled woman burns whilst staff watches!!!

Hi Gordon

Many thanks for your advice and I apologise for my extra long post but a comedian couldnt of written it. We all need a little light relief when dealing with these jobsworths.

I bi the bullet today and have phoned and agreed to the assessment being done at 11am on friday as I am stressed out by the thought of waiting with what I consider a sword hanging over my head. My CPN cant be with me but my friend and son will be. The CAB advisor who filled in the form for me (it took over 2 hours and he's and expert!!) has informed me today that he cannot find the scanned copy of the form he did and I have no copy of it myself as I trusted him. I am now stressed out and very worried I will say something wrong on friday.

Hi GS,

You need to make sure that the visiting doctor writes down your answers and make sure you read through the form he completes before he leaves so that you can tell him if there are any ommissions or errors. If you can't carry out anything he asks tell him why you can't do it.

Am I within my rights to ask to see what he has written and what do I do if he refuses?
