Hi,

I am abit confused! I have just passed my atos medical and placed in the WRAG. I have 3 conditions that fluctuate. I am back at work to the job i have done for 6 years after having six months off, but only doing 6 hours a week. I can do ONLY 52 weeks permitted work in WRAG but cannot understand why I have to either be better then and doing 16 hours(which i hope i am) or you have to only earn £20 or less a week. This means me dropping to 3 hours a week! How can I be properly better with my conditions? What if I am up to 10 hours a week but still sick? Can I not claim any other benefit, its daft, because i cant claim jobseekers if not better but can only do 52 weeks permitted work. How do people go on with constant disabilites? I think the Universal Credit has no time limit on permitted work but that dosen't start untill sep 2013!! My permitted work runs out oct 2012.

I am assuming that your Permitted Work has been confirmed by the DWP.

ESA is a Not Fit for Work benefit, I would assume that the argument is that is you are fit enough to do carry out that level of work over an extended period of time, then you don't need the benefit.

Thanks Gordon,

So what is Disability working allowlance? Does this still exisit? When are you classed as disabled? I have cfs/Fibro/Inflammatory bowel disease. I may only be able to do 6 hours a week for the rest of my working life. But a bit of work is better than none at all! But its still not 16 hours so you can sign off the sick! Think im going to start writing to MPs and the DWP! They don't seem to help people who can and want to do a little work!

DWA was replaced by Working Tax Credits which has a disability element, we don't advise on this but the following page provides information, although I don't know if it reflects recent changes to the hours required to qualify.
