A friends experience of recorded ATOS/ESA

A friend of mine has recently gone through an IB to ESA conversion ATOS medical in Bradford. They decided to opt for having the medical recorded and were surprised at the result. Obviously the request resulted in a 6 week delay to the medical.
They had been led to expect that the health professional would ask questions prompted by computer software and select stock answers offered by the software. However what actually happened was that the interviewer seemed to ask questions freely as they came to his mind and typed my friend's answers verbatim into the computer. The computer screen was clearly visible to my friend throughout.

Is all this normal practice or has something special been done because of the recording? My friend was given a CD of the recording to take away with him.

I notice that your forum name may be your real name, the following FAQ explains how to change your forum name if necessary.

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

With regard the interview.

As I understand it, the medical comprises two components, the interview, which to a considerable extent follows a standard "script" to capture your typical day, and a more detailed set of questions prompted by the LiMA software, based on previously entered data. This latter part may in part, be completed by the "doctor" after the examination has been completed.

As to the screen being viewable, I doubt this is an advantage as all it shows is waht is going into the software and not what comes out of it :)

It's not my full name, don't worry.

The interview was with a friend, not me. The curious part was that the computer/LIMA did not seem to be supplying any questions to be asked. I guess the real interesting part will come when they get a decision.
