ESA problem

Hi,would appreciate your help with this. My stepson sent off a three month sick note. He got awarded ESA then received a booklet, I think an ESA50. Last night he noticed he has not been paid ESA since the 17th of April.
The ESA booklet was to be returned by the 14th of May. It was sent before that date by special delivery.
I have tried all morning phoning job centre plus, but they are constantly busy. Is this normal to stop payment until they receive the booklet and make a decision?

No, I would expect payment to continue, at the basic rate, until a decision is made - as long as the period is still covered by a doctor's note.

I assume you have already checked the royal mail website to confirm they received it?
If you have then you need to speak to them and find out what's going on

They said it was a computer error! They have now paid my stepson the money owing to him.
