Hi all,

I have a query about submitting evidence with my ESA claim & would appreciate your feedback.

I have been on IB & DLA for past 12 years & was awarded them indefinitely. Now I’m going through the transfer process to ESA & my claim has to be sent off this Thurs (17th May). I’ll be claiming on both mental & physical grounds due to CFS/ME, Fibromyalgia, PTSD & Dissociative Identity Disorder.

As advised in the help guides from here, I’ll be sending supportive evidence & have great letters from my Psychotherapist, my Counsellor & a friend who supports me. I thought it’d be good to get one from my GP as well. However, I wasn’t able to get an appointment with her until after the claim is due in, so saw another Dr in the practice who I’ve never seen before. He’s written a letter which names my illnesses but doesn’t describe any symptoms or elaborate at all. He has also written ‘She feels she is unable to work at the present time’ My concern in sending this letter with my claim form is that it could seem as if I ‘feel’ I am unable to work, rather than my medical conditions dictate the fact that I can’t. I know that your ESA guide says if ‘the evidence is unhelpful then simply don’t submit it’

Do you think I should include this letter with my claim? Could it be counterproductive because of what it says?

I am due to see my regular GP in a couple of weeks to update her on the situation & I know if she is contacted by DWP she would be supportive of my claim & could elaborate on my condition. So if I didn’t include this letter with my claim, I could just hope that they contact her for more information about me, before making a decision? Not sure what is best.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Thank you

I am really sorry but we are unable to give personal advice on the forum, see

Why can’t you answer a question about my specific claim?

It's not a problem :)

It's just the forum isn't the appropriate place for members to share the level of information that they would need for us to accurately advise them.
