I am in the process of being moved from incapacity benefit and have recieved my form from ATOS.Thing is,i never recieved the 'phone call'.Well if i did and was'nt available they did'nt leave a message on the answerphone.Do they(the dwp)need to phone you?
The phone call, at this point in the process, is simply to ask you if you have any questions regarding the transfer, missing it should have no effect on the process continuing as is evidenced by you receiving the ESA50, which is the next step.
After you return the ESA50, ATOS may try and contact you regarding arranging a medical, if you have specific requirements regarding the timing of a medical, it may be to your advantage to take this call, assuming a medical is actually required, which it might not.

After you send in the ESA50 form,who is the person who rings you to make the appointment?is it a medical person i.e. a doctor,nurse etc or someone who's employed in administration.and what happens if you miss the calls? thanks

It's an admin person that will call to make the appointment.
If you miss the call they will try a couple of times more and then write to you with the details of the appointment. You are entitled to 7 days notice.
