I don't think there is any rule, either way.

Each DWP office handles a large geographical area, and as a consequence most DMs will be dealing with several 100s of active files at any one time, they'll have to have a better memory than I do, although that wouldn't be difficult (cut to picture of Goldfish), to remenber the details of a previous asessment without refering to the file :)

Can anyone advise please.

When a specialist consultant writes his report on the patient, does he need to include in the report if the patient should be in the "Support Group" and is not fit to attend medicals or should he just state that the patient is unfit for any kind of work due to disabilities and a medical would cause unecessary stress.

Thanks.
It's just that he gave the impression he would be reassessing my husband and he confirmed he was the senior D/M.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait for the outcome of the decision.

Wherever possible Health Care Professionals providing you with reports should be asked to make there comments with reference to the ESA descriptors for the WRAG and/or Support Group.

So if your Consultant believes your husband should be in the SG, then they should say why, not adding an explanation will dimish the impact of the report, as it will be asssumed that they do not know the criteria and that therefore the statement is simply for effect.

As a general rule, stating that a claimant is unable to do any kind of work, carries little weight with ATOS and the DWP.

Many thanks. Your advise makes great sense.

If for any reason one cannot get a specialists report, then would you advise the same for a GP's report????
