ESA LETTER ARRIVED was created by Ian
Finally got my letter last Sat (26th May) to say that I would be transferring to ESA from my additional pensions contributions ICB £113.32p per month. Still waiting for the telephone call, mind you they were 5 months late in sending the letter, I should have had a review in Jan 12! The fun will begin if they declare me fit for work as I get War Pensions UNSUPP. Really looking forward to what athey have to say.
Any one else in the same situation? Oh BTW I am 70% disabled for War Pensions.

Hi Ian,

Although I am a War Pensioner who claims Unsupp, I don't get the extra IB part. However in my volunteer day job with an ex service welfare organisation I do come across this scenario quite often.

Technically as you receive UNSupp you may have to go through a certain rigmarole due to the extra IB that is paid on conversion to ESA (we have many cases stacked at 1st and Upper Tier appeal at the moment in relation to this).

All you can do is put in the ESA claim and eventually see what occurs.

Pete

Received the phone call yesterday (Thurs), he went thru the rigmarole then, asked if I had any questions.
So I said what will happen if I lose my WP UMSupp if I lose my ESA. He got a benefits adviser back to me within the hour and apprently it won't affect my WP UMSupp. I'm not the only one apprnetly, as you said Pete, the appeals are mounting up.

Hi Ian,

It is very doubtful it would affect your War Pensioners Unsupp (unless there are very compelling reasons why that should not be in payment). It is more the problem of being awarded ESA and the confusion by the DWP in the 'relationship' between UNSUPP and ESA where formerly the additional Incapacity Benefits were in payment. I think when they formed the ESA regulations, War Pensioners claiming the additional part of IB were somewhat overlooked and it has caused many problems.

However as I said, apply for the ESA and see what happens albeit it may lead to yet another appeal case in the end!

Pete

Hi,
dwp told me months ago that my next assessment would be in September. On Saturday I received a questionnaire, months early, obviously . Any ideas why this has happened, as I say so!! early.? I have already filled it in, and returned it.
