Sorry for asking this, I know I have seen it somewhere on the site. But can't remember where I saw it to find it again... Could anyone point me in the direction of where there is a list of conditions that you are exempt from attending a medical either for DLA or ESA. Thanks....

Hi,

Page 15 of the guide entitled 'Understanding
Employment and Support Allowance' spells out the limited cases where one maybe treated as having a 'limited capability for work'. The guide is available on this page:

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa

Some other claimants are exempt the WCA but this is mainly veterans where the HM Forces Discharge Medical Board report is used in lieu of an ESA Work Capability Assessment.

As for DLA, any claimant could be asked to attend a medical. However those terminally ill and claiming under the 'special rules' are generally treated as exempt.
