DLA MOBILITY HR & DISABILITY WORKING TAX CREDITS

Currently have Motability Car since last October 2011. Have been on HR Mobility DLA since about 1992.
Also since 2008 been on Incapacity Benefit long term.
Just been offered a job 35 hours per week starting June 18th 2012.
Rang Tax Credit Helpline for claim form and failed a basic security question from about 4 years ago(ie Favourite Hobby As A Child?). So they said I can't be sent a claim form???????????? Must wait now for my local Tax Office to call me and invite me in for interview where I must supply Passport, proof of address, photo evidence of ID. All this because I requesting a claim form for Working Tax Credits?? Can I complain? If this delays me being able to claim in relation to my start date of 18th June can I make sure they backdate if I qualify? Is it just me or is this overkill when I just requesting a claim form?

DLA HR Mobility - I have notified JobcentrePlus of my job offer and start date and they have interviewed me and sorted out Back To Work Grant, Return To Work Credits and a discretionary £50 voucher for clothes via Matalan and they have updated my records, so I will show as commencing work and my Incapacity benefit will cease.
If I commence the job on 18th June 2012 do I need to inform DLA department??

Any other general advice and help re starting work after long term Incapacity Benefit would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry but Tax Credits are not a benefit we deal with on B&W. (mainly because they are administered by HM Revenue & Customs and not the DWP). It maybe wise to seek individual advice form such as a CAB.

As to informing the DWP of starting work, it maybe viewed as a 'change of circumstance'. However not knowing if or whether your job in effect contradicts any of your accepted needs(ie such as getting a job as a postman whilst claiming HRM) as we have no access to case files etc It is impossible to tell. For safety it could be wise to inform them but also do make sure you advise them if and what adjustments are being made to help overcome your needs.
