I will expecting migration to ESA in a few months time
My main aim is to get into the Support Group, and I think I have a good chance
I am aware that there is a form that can ber sent to the GP to see if one needs to be called for a medical, and indeed I think (but am not certain) this can be used in concluding whether or not a person can be allocated to the SG without a medical
Also, I know that the GP can be asked by me to write something helpful

However, I have a Review date which will presumably be my date for the beginmning of the migration process. I gather that DWP are struggling to meet the migration timetable and many people have found weeks or monthgs have elapsed before much gets done

My question is , is it in my interests to invoke the process of sending the form/.getting a letter, or can I wait for the ESA 50 first ?

I want to ensure my GP knows what criteria I seek to rely on and have the best chance

Have some members perhaps found that on their ESA50 alone they got accepted for Support group or was it with medical evidence from their GP/consultant/other ???

Thank you for any answers

Hi,

In general there is nothing lost by making sure your GP is upto date with your situation. Whether you do this in advance of receiving an ESA50 or not is really upto you, although your GP having contemporary knowledge can be helpful.

However one thing to try to avoid is your GP putting in his/her report 'Mr/Mrs XFactor says.......' or Mr/Mrs Xfactor reports that............' as it will be picked up your GP is just relaying what you have told him/her and is not really helpful in determining decisions on claims.

If you search t5rough the forum you will see tat members have been put into the SG on the strength of the ESA50 alone, with extra evidence from a GP/Consultant or by having a medical. It is rather irrelevant as all cases are different. Completing the ESA50 in great detail (as per the guides) and sending in good supporting evidence is probably the best approach.

Pete
