Hi,I had my Atos medical yesterday. was created by sandra
Had my medical yesterday and it was nothing like the old medical boards that I used to attend. The doctor who done previous medicals was always understanding and often indicted that everything would be ok. Not this one, I have no Idea of what to expect because although she was very nice, she didn't ask me about the questions on the form and it thew me a bit as she was asking in such a way that she was almost saying 'well you could do this or that, cant you?' Well at the end of the examination she said that i will hear in 2-3 weeks and at least the first stage was over, so I dont think it went well and I'm not looking forwardthe the next stage, whatever she ment by that. Anyway I am going away next week for a few days and I am now worried in case something comes when i am away . Has anyone heard within a week for their result?

I think I remember one person, some time ago, getting a result within a week, given the delays now present in the system I think it's unlikely that you will hear that quickly.

Remember, if this is an ESA claim, then the DWP require you to notify them if you are going to be away from home overnight.

Thanks for your reply, I did put the dates that I would be away from home on the form that I filled in,I just wondered if they would look at that again or if the information they send would need an immediate reply.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic and apologies to Sandra for hijacking her thread but I can't help wonder about this rule about telling the DWP you are going to be away overnight. Do they expect you to do that even for one night???

If this is the case how are we supposed to know rules like this? For example I was transferred to ESA last year but I certainly didn't get told any rules of the claim, wasn't given any paperwork regarding the details, just got told in letter how much I was getting and from when.

The requirement is stated on the ESA40 and I am told, was also on the IB40. These pamphlets are issued for new claims for ESA, I don't know whether they are sending them out when claimants are transferred from anoth benefit to ESA.

I am sure the value to the DWP is debatable, however, as the DWP are only required to give 7 days notice of a requirement to attend a WFI, which takes no account of postal delays, there is potential value to a claimant to do this, as failing to attend a WFI can result in your benefits beig sanctioned.

Thanks Gordon, as you say the value to the DWP is debatable but when it is 7 days notice one night could make all the difference. For me it is fine as there would be someone at my house should I be away, which is unlikely, but I do feel the DWP should be sending all transfer people the ESA40.
