voluntary attendance was created by wasue
Hi All, Have been placed in the WRAG from April 2012. Attended WFI and was told that as my prognoses was 18months everything would be voluntary. After this WFI meeting I was asked to attend an information session. Unfortunately due to ill health I have had to cancel this 3 times. Everyone says that this information session is voluntary but the lady at the Jobcentre plus keeps saying I have to attend. Who is right? By the way keep up the good work we would all be lost without this site to help us through the maze!!

Ill-health would certainly constitute good cause for not attending the information session, but ask the officer at the Jobcentreplus office who has indicated that attendance is compulsory, to put her opinion in writing so that there can be no doubt about whether the information session is a voluntary or compulsory requirement.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thanks for the reply crazydiamond. It was the lady at JCP that at first said it was voluntary then when she rang to sdee if I had attended she said it was compulsary. I will have to ask again when she rings. I have appealed the WRAG decision in April but like millions of others still waiting to hear about the reconsideration. This was a transfer from IB to ESA after being told 15 years ago that I would never work again. Still sometimes you have to laugh or you would spend your life in tears!!!!
