Could you post on Benefits news the debate that happened in the HOC yesterday, not sure I understood the result of the motion regarding DLA. Many thanks

Can I encourage members to read the Benefits News and engage in the comments, we need to stick together and make our feelings know.

Regards

Annken

I'm not sure what debate you are referring to, but Hansaard, the minutes of any debates, etc, is not published until the next working day.

You can add a News Item yourself tomorrow when the details are available by following the Benefit News link and the "submit a story" link on the new page.

Moderators are not able to approve Benefit News articles so it may take some time to be published.

It appears that news items are not being approved at present, as they've been no new news items published for over 10 days.

I've posted at least 6 news stories in the last week, but they haven't appeared and I know John Pring of Disability News Service has done the same.

Perhaps Steve is too busy with other things ?

Below is a short piece I have cut and pasted from democracy live websit hope its of use to members

Labour's arguments about the impact of benefit cuts on disabled people have been branded "pathetic" by Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith.

His Labour counterpart Liam Byrne opened an opposition-led debate on 20 June 2012, telling MPs that the total loss to disabled people in the UK from benefit cuts would be greater than increased taxes on bankers.

From 2013, the government is proposing to introduce a new disability benefit called Personal Independence Payment, for eligible working age people aged 16 to 64, to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

Mr Byrne calculated that this change would contribute to nearly £3.5bn in cuts from disability benefits by the end of the Parliament, while bankers would lose out by £2.5bn.

But Mr Duncan Smith accused Labour of inconsistency
