Hi, My sister who is schizophrenic and manic depressive has had an esa50 sent to her to fill in once again, After reading through how to fill in the form on your website, I was wondering when I fill in the form and send it of, can I also ask them, for my sister to be put in the exemption category, any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

I'm not sure what you mean by an "exemption category".

If you meam something that will stop her being re-assessed in the future, then I am afraid that does not exist.

If you mean, does she qualify for ESA under one the Exemption Categories or the Exceptional Circumstances, then these are explaine in the ESA Claim guides.

Hi Gordon

Thank you for your reply, I did mean the exemption categories or the exemptional circumstances, I'll read through the esa guides again.

Just that whilst I was reading it I took it to mean that if you were put into any of the above groups then she would not have to keep filling in the esa50 forms, and because of this iI thought if I wrote a letter and sent it of with her form, they might consider putting her in the exemption group.

Am i making sense, so much info to absorb on this site

I am sorry, but there is no way to excuse someone receiving ESA from being re-assessed at some future date, even claimants with a terminal illness can be subject to one!

All you can do is complete the ESA50 on her behalf, to the best of your abilities, in the hope that it results in there being a considerable period, the max we are aware of is three years, before she is re-assessed.

Hi Gordon

Thanks for replying again.

I'll fill in the form and keep my fingers crossed that they won't want another esa50 filled in for a while
