First letter in appeal process was created by johnlyn
Hi, I’m writing a letter of objection against the DWP decision to place me in the WRAG and not the Support Group. I am using your guide and as you suggest I have requested in writing that the DWP sends me all the information they have gathered on my claim, so that I can prove I’m right and they are wrong in the decision they have taken.
My problem is that I (and probably the majority of appellants) am unable to make a targeted appeal against their decision when I do not know what reason the DWP used to arrive at their decision. I cannot for example say that the decision maker said I could walk 100m or 200m when I have no idea what they have said. I rang them and asked if they could give me an idea of why they took the decision they did, but the lady I spoke to didn’t have the information in front of her. I also know that they can take more than a month to send me the information, so I will not wait for that.
Is a general letter citing the reasons why I feel they are wrong in placing me in WRAG sufficient? I can highlight how I comply with the descriptors (3 in my case) but it’s really a few lines from my ESA50. Can’t think of how to approach it any other way. If there’s anyone out there who has written this appeal letter that can give me an idea of how they structured it I would be very grateful.
I think I’m beginning to make heavy weather of this but don’t want to be refused the opportunity to appeal.
