Hi there,

I am awaiting my ib to esa transfer, and was due for reassessment in may 2012, but have yet to hear from them. Could anyone tell me how long you should leave it before contacting the dwp, or should I just leave it alone.

Also a family member has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has to leave work and has to apply for esa etc. Can anyone tell me if this would 'flag' up my name at the dwp and bring my 'assessment' forward, as we are listed at the same address but have different surnames?

Thank advice would be great. Thanks.

Whilst the majority of claimants are being transferred on their IB re-assessment date, a significant minority are not.

You can contact the DWP about this, but I suspect the majority view of the B&W members would be, leave it alone :)

I think it unlikely that your family member claiming ESA will have any effect on when you are to be assessed.

An additional query to my one above. Is can anyone tell me how long new esa claims will take to process? He will be having surgery shortly and will be off work for around 8 weeks, and he is concerned that it wont be dealt with in time, and will be stuck the the backlog. Any advice again would be great.

Thanks.

As regards the transfer, I would tend to let sleeping dogs lie, as long as you keep getting your money. ;)

Thanks everyone for their replies.

I will do that, as I am happy to keep my head down and wait, and hope that I become forever lost in the dwp system, ha. My worry was that when someone else makes a claim at my address then it would bring my assessment forward. I guess Il just have to wait and see.

Does anyone know if new esa /dla claims for cancer patients having surgery and 8wks recovery will be fast tracked or will they be treated the same as everyone else?

Thanks.
