I think this depends on whether your father will be self-funding or whether the state will be funding the care home.

As moderators our area of expertise is in relation to disability living allowance, attendance allowance, the personal capability assessment used in connection with incapacity benefits, and the work capability assessment used in connection with employment and support allowance. So those are the only subjects on which we can provide reliable information.

My mum went into care home in sept last year. DLA is stopped 28 days after the move date. She has no savings or capital. My mum has to have £23.50 a week left for herself. She uses this to pay the hairdresser and the chiropodist. If your dad has savings or property this may be different for him.

The circumstances surrounding someone being placed in a Care Home are often unique to the individual and may, or may not, effect the benefits being paid.

As has already been stated, we are not in a position to advise on this and any advise from other members may well be inaccurate due to a lack of information, as a result I am locking this thread to further posts.
