Tribunal and carers allowance was created by Valerie
sorry if this is not the correct forum - my son who is epileptic was plkaced on ESA but is still waiting for a tribunal as he was told he should apply for the support group.. he was called to the local job centre for an interview (not a work related one) and they asked his wife if she was his carer. She said yes and they asked her why she hadn't applied for carers allowance ... so she sent in the forms - result - son has been awarded £58 per week carers allowance ... but it has been taken out of his ESA benefit - so he doesn't get anything - is that right ??

On the assumption that your son is on Income Related ESA, then his wife should be receiving the CA, and equivalent amount will be deducted from his ESA(IR), but there should also be an extra payement of £32.60 for the Carers Premium.

If this is not the case, then they should seek advice from their local CAB or Welfare Rights office, as this is as far as advice can go due to the limitations of the forums.
