Right Payment Programme medical was created by Karlo
Hi all. I sent off my RPP form in march. Yesterday received an A4 sized envelope from DLA saying they received the form on the 23rd March and now require me to have a medical, oh the joy! Also yesterday received a letter from ATOS saying I require a medical blah blah and someone soon will contact me. I know they're supposed to give you 7 days notices but as long as its not I'm coming tomorrow or I'm outside now I'm not bothered, sooner they've came they sooner I'll get it sorted one way or the other.

However what I want to know is regarding dogs! As a family we have two, I don't walk them due to mobility issues others in the household do that, I'm just worrying will the Doctor or whoever does the medical start playing detective? So would it be best if possible to move them out for the day or at least the medical? Also another query can I decide what room I want the medical to take place or will the Doctor insists on where?

If you dogs are anything like mine, they'll just get in the way so removing them for the day should not be a problem, but if asked about pets, you should be honest, but explain that you do not help with their exercise.

You can choose where to hold the medical, but don't be surprised if the ATOS "doctor" asks to see other areas of the house, they often ask to see the toilet, and if you have stated you needs to get out of bed they might want to see these as well.

Good luck

Thanks Gordon for the swift reply. Nothing sinister in wanting the medical in a certain room as we sit out the back in the summer and as our front room window looks straight out onto the street I don't fancy having passer bys and neighbours looking in. No problems with toilet as I've had a downstairs shower room fitted by social services and as for getting in and out of bed I've stated my wife helps and I use the bedside table etc as an aid.

I just want it done and whoever out my house.

Well at around 5pm today a doctor phoned to arrange the medical visit. So only got until Tuesday to wait. The Doctor came across as pleasant enough on the phone. Hurry up Tuesday evening as it'll be done with and out of my hands.

Getting nervous now!!! I've read all through the 70 questions likely to be asked and was wondering do they still do a walking test? As I'm not too keen on walking down the pavement with umpteen neighbours curtains twitching!

Also will showing a passport for I.D. go against me and will a repeat prescription form be ok to show the Doctor my medication list?

There should be no problem with the passport and the repeat prescription forms.

As to the walking test, as I understand it, this is rarely administered, ATOS staff are told to start their evaluation as soon as they enter the claimants house and to observe how they move around within it. There's more on mobility in our "Giving persuasive
information about how far you can walk" guide. See
