I have had a letter from DWP (Disability and Carers Service) this morning about my "Local Service Visit" which will be next Thursday morning (no time given) ..... any ideas what this is about?????

I am still on IB and get HRM and HRC. 'Reason for visit' it says "we need to come and see you to discuss the recent changes to the benefits you have been receiving. During the visit, we will also provide information on further services that may be available to you."

Anyone know what exactly this is and why they may be coming out?

I notice that your forum name may be your real name, if you want to change it, follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Whilst it may be that the DWP are coming to see to simply make sure you are receiving the correct payments, I have to warn you that in the majority of cases, this visit is the result of an anomaly in your claim being flagged.

If possible I would recommend having somone with you when they visit.

With luck it will simply be a simple curtesy call.

My Local service visit from the disability and carers service, was about an overpayment of Incapacity Benefit, it was a large sum and they thought I needed to be told in person, despite the fact that they had already written and told me. I believe someone else on the side was visited by the same department about the same thing. The person that came was lovely, but was very surprised that I already knew.
