That means that you have been awarded ESA due to both physical and mental health problems.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thanks for that. I think. Now I'm on a downer!
Could I ask what this part means, please?
The client has a significant level of disability due to Multiple Conditions. such that they would have limited capability for work. Likely to satisfy threshold for physical and mental health descriptors.
Pleas tell me that's good news.
Paul.

Hi P58,

The ATOS HCP is simply giving recognition to the fact that you have multiple health condition, that lead to a "significant level of disability", (This statement seems to be used fairly often) and that because of this, you have LCW, as you satisfy the LCW physical and mental health descriptors, in that you have scored at least 15 points cumulatively.

See LCW (WRAG) descriptors here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/1/made?view=plain

&

Qualifying for the WRAG

This is where people get confused, being placed into The WRAG does not mean that you are "fit for work", they are admitting that you are "Disabled".

See the Support Group Descriptors,(LCWRA) here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/2/made?view=plain

&

Qualifying for the Support Group

So I'm afraid that this does not really improve the situation. :(

Thanks to all for the replies. Yes, I jumped the gun! I rang DWP and they verified it. I really do have a degree in English, unfortunately gobbledigook wasn't part of the course. Thankfully, you all seem to be able to decipher this area of the language.

Hi P58,

I think the terminology used in the ESA WCA process was deliberatly designed to confuse even the most literate.

So, you are not alone. :)

I was appealing mainly on a few of the mental issues I have, until I got all the reports back I'd asked for under FOI - which I still haven't got 26 working days later.

Just a general point. When you talk about, "the reports I'd asked for under FoI" are you talking about reports on your own application for benefit or "medical" assessment? If you were, then you will get nothing under FoI.

Freedom of Information requests are desgined to let you find out what public bodies (government departments, local councils etc) are doing, but not what information they hold on individuals.

This means that you can ask the DWP (for example) what they paid for recording machines for WCAs, or what the guidelines are for interviewing wheelchair-bound claimants in second-floor offices or what information they use about Motor Neurone Disease but you can't get information under FoI rules about your own WCA. That comes under a different set of rules set out by the Data Protection Act.
