Alice

I suspect this is going to be a re-curring theme in the forum.

There is unfortunately no clear definition of what constitutes Work Related Activity, at its simplest level it may include writing a CV or perhaps attending training on job seeking related subjects, such as interview technique, etc.

My understanding, and I will stress that this is just my understanding, any actions that a aclaimant should be undertaking should be included in their Action Plan, which the claimant then signs, to confirm that they have understood the requirement and agree to undertake it.

This being the case, I am not entirely sure where this leaves you with regard the expectations of your advisor for your next WFI.

I suspect that I am going to be posting this on a lot of posts (note to self to take a copy), but you cannot be required to work or to seek work, and any suggested WRA, must take into account any limitations that result from your condition(s).

I am in the same position.
I suffer from long term depression, anxiety and agoraphobia. I Have been on IB for 14 years during which time I had 4 medicals. This time I was put into the wrag without a medical. I asked for a review and the decision decision was not changed.(The person who contacted me had a disability herself and managed her life to get out so said I should be able to manage mine) I was a complete wreck at the thought of trying to get to a WFI,never mind stay there for an hour talking so my hubby phoned the JC and got my interview changed to a telephone one in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to it after reading about the sanctions coz I know that there is absolutely no way I would be able to do most of the things that are being suggested as even getting there is a problem.
I will just have to wait and see what the outcome of the call is. Good luck to the people who are going through this same stage XX

Further to my own post above, I telephoned the Job Centre today to cancel my WFI appointment on Friday (for the second time) as my father is much worse this week (and have spent an exhausting day with him, mum and the Marie Curie nurse). I cracked on the phone and said that I really cannot cope with the WFI's as well as my dad's illness and my own, and after disappearing for a while, the lady came back and said the WFI's have been deferred til end of February.

Following your advice, I have also spent the weekend typing up an appeal to be placed in SG, with a paragraph on the reason it was a couple of weeks late, as suggested. Thanks for the info on that.

I am afraid that being Unfit for Work and Work Related Activity are legally two different things.

If you are in the WRAG then you are required to participate in WRA.
