Good afternoon,
Although this is not strictly to do with ESA/DLA etc it does show up an anomoly which will have serious repercussions to many on Contribution based ESA whether it is in Support Group or WRAG.

For some while those in receipt of IB/IS/DLA/TC for example were able to access the Government'Warm Front' for heating grants/insulation/new boilers etc.

Early this year we were all informed that this govt backed scheme was being over hauled for October this year to include the new welfare reform benefit system & would make it more accessable for those on benefits to renew their old heating systems/ boilers and to be provided insulation in the homes etc via the govt 'Warm Front' Scheme.

Today I ventured on the site to see how it was to be implemented.
The web site does list certain benefits one must be on to be able to access this important grant for the elderly/ disabled/ etc.
However when one phones in to speak to a person, they again re iterate those benefit criteria listed ,if you meet that you are then placed in a queue to speak to a further person who will complete the access form for you.
Here is where it now has a considerable change.

You are no longer able to access this grant if you are on 'Contribution Based ESA' either in the Support Group or in the WRAG group.
Therefore those of us deemed unable to work & receive the Contribution based ESA especially in the Support Group will no longer be able to have the grant to update your existing old boiler or have insulation unless you are in the Income Related sector. This will in fact leave many of us without suitable and adequate heating in our homes.Their is no redress in this situation.
I have now contacted Spartacus and my MP in regards to this very important factor.
Not only are we considered less than human as a disabled or unwell person we are going to be forced to freeze in our homes as well now if we are unable to meet the costs of insulation or a new heating system.

I have allowed your post although it really should be in the Benefits News section, however, I am locking the thread to prevent it turning into a discussion.
