Hi Melanie,

There is a lot of info on this site explaining what to expect at the assessment. This will be a good place to start

ESA Medical – What to expect

As an aside - it would be better for you to start a new thread of your own if you cannot find the inf you need in the guides and FAQs. Otherwise people can get very confused regarding who they are answering and what the background is :)

Sorry - xpost with Gordon

I am not suggesting that the opinion is justified, but ATOS will have accurately measured distance to the examination room, they will have counted the time it took you to get there, and will then extrapolate your speed, from this they will have a reasonable understanding of how your walking is effected and the potential distance you can walk.

The important thing to understand is that this is just an opinion, not a fact, and therefore it is something you can disagree with.

You might want to have a look in the DLA section, there's a guide in there "DLA - Giving pursusive evidence about how far you can walk" which might help.

Remember, the ESA test is not walking, it is mobilising which can include the use of a wheelchair, irrelevany of whether you use or even own one.
