Hi,i have been through the D.L.A queries and results but could not find the information i required.
I have been claiming D.L.A. at the higher rate and middle rate care since 1995.A few months ago i reached the age of retirement 65.
Could you tell me what changes if any the Work & Pensions have for the over 65s claiming D.L.A. if so when, and will claimants have medicals like D.L.A. claimants of working age changing to P.I.P.
Kind regards
Spangles.

At this time the the only statement made by the Government regarding DLA and PIP for the over 65s is that they have not made any decision on what they intend to do, they currently intend to review the situation in 2016.

Hi S,

As things stand, any DLA recipients that reach the age of 65 by April 8th 2013, will not be transferred over to PIP, so you are O.K. there.

Of course, all DLA recipients who have been in receipt of DLA for 12 months or more, no matter how long their DLA Award is for, may be reviewed under : The Right Payment Programme

These DLA recipients are chosen at random.

For all the latest information on PIP, please review :

Under current information available from the DWP, those over 65 in receipt of DLA will continue to receive DLA for the foreseeable future, so long as they continue. to satisfy the requirements. It may be that those over 65 years of age and in receipt of DLA may be transferred to PIP, but there is no date as to when this may happen , if it ever does.
