Continuation of payment of ESA (CB) after a year

Hello

I have been in receipt of ESA (CB) which is due to run out on 28 November this year (though received no notification from Jobcentre+ since May). I am currently in the limited capability for work group where I have been since making my claim and my conditions have worsened over the year. My friend tells me that I am eligible for another year's ESA payments because of this and am wondering if this is true and if so will I have to re-apply?

Hi Nella,

If your condition has worstened to the point that you believe you meet the Support Group criteria, you can ask for a 'supersession'. This would mean filling in another ESA50 and looking at your claim again. The onus would be on you to provide proof of your claim.

Thank you for the info but I think I am already in the Support Group as per my letter it states

Limited Capability for work addition £34.05
Extra Money because you are in the Support Group

Does this still mean I have to ask for a suppersession?
Regards
Nella

Hi A,

Reverting back to your original post, where did you get the 28 November from, if it is from your ESA award letter this is not the length of your ESA award.

If you have "Limited Capability for Work", then that means that you are in The WRAG. To be in The SG, you must have "Limited Capability for Work Related Activity".

If you are already in the Support Group you don't have to do anything as this is not time-limited :)

Hi Nella , my wife who has M.S also had her E.S.A stoppped in August due to me [supposedly] working more than 24 hours a week. With the help of this site and the M.S society we were told to appeal[even though i work] and say she should have been put in the support group when she was assessed last Year.We have been successful :) are filling in the last form to say what loans and savings we have to base how much she will be receiving.Hope this helps and use the form filling sections here they were a massive help.Thats what won us the appeal.
