WRAG & Job Centre Plus Interview was created by Bambi
New to the site and I've tried searching the forum for answers relating to my situation but to no avail :(

I recently filled in the form from Atos medical services 9th July 12, or rather my sister did as I struggle to write due to my Multiple Sclerosis) the form was filled in with lots of detail majority of questions ticked were it varies this is due to the nature of my ilness. I also have Raynauds which was also stated to them on a seperate sheet. My doctor also provided a letter explaining why I was unable to work.

However after sending the form back I recieved a letter 11th. Sept 12 telling me that I had been placed in the WRAG?? My husband sent an appeal 29th Sept 12 and they acknowledged reciept 8th Oct 12. In the meantime I got a letter from Job Centre Plus inviting me to an interview on the 29th Oct 12. My husband rang them to say as he was working away abroad I would be unable to attend as I need assistance in attending. They have deffered this until the 7th Dec 12.

I really dont understand why I have been placed in the WRAG I am unable to function properly day to day because of my illness so how do they expect me to be able to function in the WRAG??

Any assistance/guidance wouldbe greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

The DWP have accepted that you are unable to work but havenot been convinced that you are unable to carry out 'Work Focussed Interviews'. You would need to undergo these even if you appeal the decision but it is often possible to have these carried out over the phone or in your own home. However, this is entirely at the discretion of your personal advisor at the JC+.

Letters from medical professionals are often unhelpful if they simply state that the patient is unfit for wrk - the case needs to be made by showing how your condition matches the Support Group criteria
Qualifying for the Support Group

If, having read the above, you feel that you meet the Support Group criteria, you have 1 month from the date of the decision in which to submit an appeal. If you wish to do that, there are lots of resources on this site that will help.

Did your doctor's letter refer specifically to the Support Group descriptors?

Hi B,

This is where many G.P.'s etc get confused, being unfit for work only places you in The WRAG, in that you are deemed to have Limited Capability for Work, (LCW)

To gain access to The SG you must be deemed as having Limited Capability for Work Related Activity, (LCWRA).

Work related activity includes WFI's and other WRA, therefore if you are not in the SG and therefore classed as having LCWRA, you are deemed as having the capability to take part in WFI's & WRA.

I understand that this can be confusing.
